Building suicide-safer communities

Where & When?

Our volunteers physically cover all of Limerick City & County. However, we support people all over Ireland and sometimes the UK via phone. We operate from 5pm to 6am.

I think someone might be suicidal

You can call our crisis line on 085-1777631 and speak to a trained volunteer. You can call our service from anywhere in Ireland.

Our Story

In 2014 one of our co-founders, Caitriona McMahon had planned to take her life. Caitriona had been struggling with suicidal thoughts for quite some time and says that eventually it all became too much. Luckily, our other co-founder noticed a changed in Caitriona and asked her if she was thinking about suicide. With help, Caitriona was able to get the professional support she needed and after a long road of ups and downs during recovery, both women decided to seek out any training they could in specific to suicide.

In 2016 after much training and hearing of a tragic death by suicide in the local community Caitriona and Kayla decided that they would, with their training make themselves available locally to travel to people who are found to be feeling suicidal. Community Crisis Response Team was born.

Within hours people in the community came forward to help. Fast forward a few months and trained volunteers were travelling to people all across Limerick city & county. Offering intervention support to people feeling suicidal, providing emotional support to families and friends.

We now take calls from people all across Ireland and have aided emergency services nationally and internationally in supporting those in crisis.  We have expanded our operations to include providing suicide postvention services. This means that we provide support to individuals who have been bereaved by suicide.

If not for the support of our communities, our work would not be possible. To everyone who has made kind offers of help, has run 5K's, held coffee mornings, has spoken about or highlighted our service to workmates, school mates or the public - thank you. You make our work possible.
