Volunteer

Our volunteers take on various roles within Community Crisis Response Team. Not everyone feels that the role of suicide responder is right for them and so we have many volunteers who offer their time and skills in other departments. You do not have to be an expert to prevent a suicide. Join our expanding team today and make a difference!

Responder

If you would like to apply for the role of suicide responder, you must be over 21 years old with a full drivers license. In the interest of protecting our volunteers and the people we serve we carry out a lengthy screening and suitability process. Following a successful application responders begin intense training with CCRT which takes approximately 6 weeks in total. Training includes advanced suicide intervention techniques, water safety, communications, equipment familiarity and much more. All responders must successfully complete all aspects of training before commencing on-duty calls. The typical commitment term for volunteer responders is two years and one shift per fortnight.
